Only high-quality Uji tea (Gyokuro and Sencha) made using first-flush tea and meeting a certain level of quality has been certified as Premium Uji tea by the Quality Inspection Committee* and Certification Committee*.
*Quality Review Committee: A committee that reviews the appearance and internal quality of the tea applied for by comparing it with a standard tea.
*Certification Committee: A committee that decides whether or not tea that has passed the examination is suitable for certification.

Among the premium gyokuro, the one that is carefully picked by hand from the tender new shoots in natural orchards is called "premium hand-picked gyokuro."
Gyokuro grown in Kyoto Prefecture on trellises that has been evaluated as high quality by the Quality Inspection Committee and approved by the Certification Committee is called "Premium Gyokuro".
Sencha that has been evaluated as high quality by the Quality Inspection Committee and approved by the Certification Committee is called "Premium Sencha."
